All inventory is physically located at Withers Wool and Farm. (The website now has a page called Online Store in which a variety of the mill spun yarn is available for purchase online.)

Some of the items available at the shop are showcased below.

Handspun Yarns 2 Ply and Singles

Withers Wool has a variety of handspun 2 ply and single yarns. All yarns are composed of the fiber from the animals on our farm. One of our softest and most popular fiber blends is Merino and Mohair. There are over 400 handspun yarns available - with new yarns being added to the shop every week.

Roving

Withers Wool has over 500 (yes over 500!) bags of roving of different colors and blends of fiber. Our most popular blend is Merino and Mohair; we also offer Merino roving, Mohair roving, and blends with alpaca and angora rabbit. The roving is made at a local mill with the fleeces from the farm. The roving is great for spinning and can also be used for wet-felting and needle-felting.

Mohair Locks

Withers Wool has a variety of dyed and undyed mohair locks; all mohair comes from the lovely Angora Goats on the farm. All the processing of these locks - skirting, washing, picking and dying (if dyed) - is done locally on the farm. Mohair locks can be used for embellishing, felting, spinning and stuffing - to name just a few things. .

Mohair Fleeces

We have available a large variety of white and colored mohair fleeces, both washed and unwashed, from our Angora Goats. Perfect if you want to card your own mohair fiber or use it for embellishments, felting, spinning, etc. This is an example of a white mohair fleece that has been skirted (to remove the vegetable matter) and washed. A typical adult Mohair fleece will weigh about 5 pounds after it is cleaned.

Walter Kircher Spinning Wheel

I recently obtained several fiber related pieces of equipment from an estate - to include spinning wheels. The Walter Kircher wheel was made in West Germany, is a single treadle wheel and has an accessory box on the front. If you are looking for an inexpensive wheel as a beginning spinner, this is one to consider.

Cat Mats

These are a few of the cat mats made on the needle felting loom with a mixture of mohair and wool. Each mat is uniquely made and adorned. Our cats were constantly sleeping on the items we were making on the needle felting loom and so we got the idea to specifically make mats for cats and this has proven to be very popular. The mats can be made to order (size and color) if you do not see one that you want.

Felted Shawls

Withers Wool has a variety of wet-felted and needle-felted shawls. Each shawl is unique in size, color and embellishments. The shawl in this picture is colorfully decorated with a variety of mohair locks. (And as noted on the Classes and Workshops page https://www.witherswool.com/classes-and-workshops, you can schedule a workshop to make your own shawl.)

Scarfs

Withers Wool has a variety of knitted, crocheted and woven scarfs. Each scarf is unique in color, design and the fiber used. Keep yourself warm in the cold weather and also look good.

Patrick Green Picker

This is an authentic Patrick Green Picker, never used. A picker is a table-top person-powered device for opening up fiber. It has a fixed "bed" of nails and a swing-arm with just as many nails. Perfect for opening up matted wool or mohair that can then be carded and spun.

Handspun Yarns Art Yarns

We offer a variety of handspun art yarns. Some of the more popular art yarns are the Thick and Thin, Supercoils, Lock spun yarn, and Beaded yarn. We are constantly working to offer new and different art yarns - our latest being a Beehive yarn. A large book of patterns is available to examine to get ideas on some ways of utilizing the art yarns.

Batts

Besides roving, we also have a large selection of batts of various colors and fiber mixes that we make at Withers Wool with our drum carders. Batts are typically used for hand spinning, needle felting and wet felting. (You can also make your own batt; see the Carding Workshop description in the Classes and Workshop tab. )

Sheepskin and Angora Goat Skin Rugs

A variety (20+) of natural sheepskin and angora goat skin rugs are available in various sizes and colors. They have a luxurious texture and soft feel and can be used in a variety of ways to include wall hangings, couch throws, and rugs.

Merino Fleeces

We also have a large variety of fine Merino wool fleeces, both washed and unwashed, from our herd of Merino sheep. Merino wool is soft and cards extremely well. This is a picture of half of a washed (and skirted) cream-colored Merino fleece. A typical Merino fleece will weigh about 10 pounds after it is cleaned. A favorite blend of our fiber is to card a mixture of 70% Merino and 30% Mohair which produces a lovely soft and lustrous batt - perfect for spinning or felting.

Felted Coasters

The top, where you would put your glass/container, is a layer of needle felted merino wool and mohair that is bonded to a cork base for an elegant, durable and functional coaster that will absorb condensation or moisture from your drinks while keeping your surface safe and dry. Wool is naturally antimicrobial and mildew resistant.

Cat Beds

We now have a variety of cat beds in two basic sizes: 11 inch diameter and 13 inch diameter. These are crocheted using “rug yarn”. The yarn is called “rug yarn” for its large size; it is made from our merino wool wrapped around a cotton core to give it strength. This is a picture of Silver, one of our barn cats, taking a nap in the 13 inch diameter cat bed.

Hats

Withers Wool has a variety of knitted, crocheted, and felted hats in various sizes and colors. All made with the wool and mohair from the sheep and goats on the farm. Come by and find the hat that best suits you.

Totes, Purses, Bags

There are a large selection of felted and woven totes, purses and bags to chose from. Each one is uniquely made. Come by to see the selection and find that perfect accessory!

Wool Pellets

These are wool pellets made from wool from Withers Wool sheep that is not suitable for spinning or felting, e.g. wool from the belly and legs. Wool pellets have a variety of uses in the garden including fertilizer, mulch and slug deterents. Much more information on the wool pellets can be found in the link to this blog entry: Using Wool Pellets
