Gabriel and Starry and other shots of the week

This has been a tough week. The first photo at the top is Gabriel. He was born on Thursday and his mother died on Friday. He bellowed for the first day, but has now settled down and is drinking from a bottle. The photo of the lamb under him is Starry. She was born the day before him and is quiet as a mouse. I am periodically taking Gabriel down to the barn to be with her and her mother. Hopefully they will become playmates so he won’t be ostracized by the other lambs. We also got 4 natural colored lambs out of this batch of ewes. They are all doing well.

Second photo is of Toggles and Cutie Pi. She is still not weaned. If I tried to feed her chips, she and I both would be trampled by the rest of the herd. I have moved from reds and amethyst to a dark shade of rich maroon. It is a very fine Merino and I am trying to spin it fine. The washing is the true test since Merino expands so much. I was thinking to spin enough for a sweater, but then it would have to be for me. I will do a batch of art yarns for the shop first.

I am still working on my pumpkin series. See the cat photo. The angora goats are in the red barn area pasture.

Right moved in to the chicken coop for a short while this afternoon to get out of the rain. East and West love running around the farm. Here they were playing with a stick and at times sharing the load. They are still adorable and have lots of adventures.
