The Tour de Fleece begins this Saturday, June 26, 2021. The group I am participating in is sponsored by the Fiber Art Studio Tour Group on both Facebook and Ravelry. Join us there to see what others will be working on. Four farms are being featured this year mine - Withers Wool (on Ravelry you will see me as (Uniquedesignsbyk), Flying Goat Farm, Avalon Springs Farm and Dancing Leaf Farm.
Each of us will be approaching it in a different way. I will be open for mini Spin Ins on July 3, Jul 10 and July 17 from 10-noon. Most of the barn rovings will be on sale. Select rovings will be offered on my Etsy shop WithersWool already sale priced for that day only.
On July 17,2021 there will be spin ins at all four farms. How many do you think you can make? Maybe a drop spindle to make visiting all four possible?
The three rovings above (not the orange batt and beads) listed above will be listed for sale this Saturday. The white is a Shetland - makes a very poofy yarn and is great for a beginner. It may also be dyed. The flecks of black hairs are typical of some Shetlands. The blue roving is a second clip off an angora goat. It is wearable for most people. Soft lustrous yarn. The third is a mostly Merino wool - gray with touches of mohair in blue and green. Easy to spin and great for all sorts of projects. Their titles will be marked as TDF, so they will be easier to find.
The orange batt came off my huge carder in the red barn and will be my first spin. Threading the beads and then placing them is my “mountain”. It is tricky to keep it from being a tangled mess.
I hope you are enticed to come out and spin and, if you have not learned and are interested, this is a good chance to check it out. I am willing to give guidance where desired, but not lessons on these days.
